About Cork airport
Cork airport is the second largest International airport in
Southern Ireland. On average more than one million passengers
use the airport every year, and back in 2001 plans were made
for the building of a new terminal building. Also the roads were
made larger from single carriageway to dual carriageway to manage
the increase in traffic.
The new terminal was completed in two thousand and six to manage
the huge increase in the number of passengers using the airport.
The major Irish airline companies Ryanair and Aer Lingus frequently
use Cork airport to fly to many European cities and also New
York. Cork airport is located approximately five miles (8km)
to the South West of Cork city.
